10 hours of in-depth Asana classes that include asana from all categories of poses, including inversions with variations, difficult backbends, and balancings. BKS Iyengar has stated on many occasions that he taught all eight limbs of yoga primarily through refining Asana and Pranayama. In this workshop, Janet will focus on pacifying the sense organs, exploring the effect of this practice on the brain, and how this enables us to perform postures with more ease. Kelly Sobanski will lead this healing sequence, inspired by the weekly Low Back Class at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Institute in Pune, India. A double-buckle belt and a regular belt will be placed around the sacrum to use as a tool for stability and feedback throughout asana practice. The Yoga Co-op of Madison is again hosting senior Iyengar Yoga instructor Chris Saudek for three weekend workshops in 2019, including January 11-13, March 8-10 and May 3-5. Taken as a series, the workshops are an officially approved Teacher Education Course by the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the US.
